The luxury lighthouse HOST is located on the islet of the same name Host, which is located in the western part of the entrance to the port of Vis. The islet of Host is oblong in shape, about 360 meters long and about 120 meters wide. It is about 1200 meters away from the center of Vis. The boat dock is on the west side of the island from where a hiking trail leads through a pine forest to the lighthouse. The lighthouse building, built in 1873, is located in the eastern part of the island. From the spacious stone terrace that surrounds the lighthouse there is a beautiful view of the open sea and the port of Vis, and a special attraction are the sunrises and sunsets.
One small beach is located just below the lighthouse. Swimming is also possible at both boat docks.

The islet of Host, and later the lighthouse of Host, was named after the British captain of the battleship William Host, whose nickname was Young Nelson. He inflicted significant losses on Napoleon's fleet with the British navy in this area back in 1811 in a great naval battle. The islet received its name in honor of the courage shown towards a numerically superior enemy.
On the north side of the island, the seabed hides an archeological site, and the configuration of the bottom itself is attractive for all forms of sports underwater activities.

The island of Vis can be reached by ferry line from Split, the ride takes about 2.5 hours and the port must be no later than 1 hour before departure, tickets are paid by guests themselves. Parking space for a car is provided free of charge on the island of Vis. Transfer by boat to the island of Host to the lighthouse is organized from the port of Vis. The ride takes about 5 min. Return transfer is included in the price of accommodation.

The lighthouse consists of a small octagonal stone tower and buildings with a total area of ​​80 m2. A completely new and energy-enhanced solar system has been installed here that provides 28 kilowatts of electricity (for comparison, apartments we live in in cities have 5 to 8 kilowatts), so guests can now use all household appliances (except cell phones and computers). at home through solar energy.
The lighthouse, like the island, is environmentally friendly and self-sufficient, with its own supply of electricity and water - the tanks have 30 m3.
If Vis and Dalmatia were left without electricity, the guests at the lighthouse would have electricity. The water from the tank is hygienically fine because it is treated so that it can be used for everyone, but for guests the lighthouse manager always ensures the amount of drinking water purchased. There is a drinking water appliance that heats and cools it. The lighthouse is fully automated and is included in the remote control system. The lighthouse keeper’s service has been withdrawn and guests are left alone.

Accommodation at the Host lighthouse is possible all year round and is ideal for all demanding guests seeking peace and isolation from the rest of the world. The lighthouse is the only building on the island and guests have at their disposal the entire island of about 40,000 square meters.
