Turanj

Turanj is a town and port on the coast on the channel of Pasman, 5 km northwest of Biograd. You will be fascinated by its quiet beaches, Mediterranean vegetation and beautiful nearby islands of the Archipelago and the Kornati National Park. Turanj has a promenade "Lungo mare" connected with the center of the village Sv. Filip i Jakov, and before that in the immediate vicinity is the island Babac. Name Turanj was obtained by the remains of medieval fortifications. In the center of town is a church dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Caramel from the XV century, whose feast is celebrated in particular, so during the summer season with the popular celebrations that day and Turanjski fest that attracts visitors with its traditional program. Outside the town near the coast there is the church of Sv. Mary on the Tukljača, and on the island Babac is a church of Sv. Andrew (XIII to XV century). Above the village on the Black Circle, which is now a viewpoint that can be reached by walking-cycling trail, there is a fort from the Iron Age, and is also interesting archaeological area Tukljača. Turanj today has abundant high-quality private rooms and apartments as well as a large number of small campsites and good restaurants that will satisfy even the pickiest costumers. Come to Turanj and you will be away from the crowds, yet close to all the events
