The island of Solta is an island of outstanding natural beauty, crystal clear sea, untouched nature and cultural heritage. Around the village Gornje Selo are pine trees, olive trees, almond trees, fig trees and grape vines. Neighborhood of Gornje Selo is ideal for walking or cycling. From Gornje Selo it is close to some coves in the easternmost part of the island, for example Livka, Travna, Stračinska, Koška, Grabova a Senjska. In the village of Gornje Selo we recommend a visit Kaštelanac farm where is being produced olive oil and excellent red wine Dobričić, which is grown only on the island of Solta.
Connection with the mainland is provided with regular ferry line from Split to the port Rogač.

History and monuments

In the center of the village is the church of St. Ivan the Baptist, built by residents of the knight Bavčević Marin, was born in the upper part of the village in 1791. Next to the church is the "Brotherhood of St. Ivan the Baptist". Around the church is a cemetery with parts of an ancient sarcophagus and the church's graves of brotherhoods. From the sanctuary, a dirt road leads to Vela Straža mountain, on the top of which there is a cross. The highest peak is 237 m above sea level. There is a monument to fallen soldiers in the upper part of the village. There is a shop and a restaurant in the village.
