History and monuments

The name of Host Island and later the lighthouse of the same name comes from the British sea captain William Host, who was nicknamed Young Nelson. In 1811, the captain of the British fleet caused great losses to Napoleon's team. The island got its name in honor of Captain Guest, who had enough courage to stand up to the numerically superior enemy.

Swimming and beach Island Host

An archaeological site lies underwater on the northern side of the islet of Host, which is why the bottom is attractive for all forms of underwater sports activities.
